There’s no doubt that NVMe is lightning-fast storage. The problem is that it’s confined to servers. But what if you could break it free from those constraints, and pool it? It could open up new worlds of speed as well as scalability.
Lightbits Labs has done just that, as VP of Product Marketing Josh Goldenhar VP explains to ActualTech Media Partner James Green in this Spotlight Series video.
Lightbits Labs calls what it does “scale out disaggregated storage.” It’s a completely software-defined, NVMe/TCP block storage solution that runs on any platform and on any hardware. That means it acts like local flash storage, but anywhere on the network rather than just the storage server. It’s as cool as it sounds.
